Missions
The goals of the missions committee are to support missions and missionaries by (1) praying, (2) giving and (3) going. We promote missions to the church body, and keep them up to date with the activities of the missionaries we support.
Monmouth Worship Center endeavors to be obedient to the Great Commission through our missions ministry …
And Jesus came up and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
Monmouth Worship Center currently provides monthly financially support to about 20 U.S. and 34 international missionaries. Once a month, a member of the committee receives the mission offering and gives a report. The committee maintains contact with the missionaries. This year, we instituted “Adopt a Missionary” whereby church family members are “adopting” one or more missionaries with a commitment for continued prayer.
The committee meets every other month to review news of those in the field, as well as to interview prospective and visiting missionaries for possible support. We also assist the pastor in planning short-term missions trips. All church members are encouraged to go on at least one missions trip in their lifetimes. We also plan and run the annual missions convention.
